What is the wedding date?
07-07-07 at 7:07 p.m.

Where will the wedding be?
In Illinois, where Diane lives in America.  The exact location is actually undergoing reconsideration, so stay tuned.  There will be a ceremony of celebration and renewal of vows in England at a later date in April, 2008.

When will the evening party be?
An "evening party" is traditionally a British party, separate from and usually following the wedding reception.  The evening party gives people who were unable to attend the wedding ceremony and reception an opportunity to celebrate with the newlyweds.  We're not going to do that.  Instead of an evening party on 07-07-07, we'll have a party later to celebrate our wedding as well as celebrate both our 50th birthdays and also Diane's 25th anniversary working at the same air traffic control tower.  That party will be on the 29th of September 2007, at the airport where Diane works.

What is the theme and colour of the wedding?  How big is the wedding party?
Love, fun, and whimsical is the theme.  We will have ushers, one best man, and one best woman.

What will be the dress code for the wedding?
The wedding will be fancy/dressy.  (In America "fancy dress" means literally a dress that's fancy, a party dress or as they say in the South "your Sunday-go-to-church clothes".  It does not mean costume or masquerade.)  Women may wear any fancy dress (i.e. posh frock) of any length or a pants [trouser] set that's already hanging in the closet.  If there's a dress that was bought for a special occasion or as a bridesmaid dress that you'll never wear again otherwise, so much for the better.  The more froo-froo, ugly, or over the top dress, even better.  Anything that you already own that you need to get your money's worth out of is perfect.  Men should wear whatever suit or tie and jacket they already own, or if you own a tux and are looking for an excuse to wear it, that's great, too.  There is no point in the expense of renting or hiring special wedding wear.  (However, if you NEED an excuse to go buy a new dress, who are we to stand in your way?)  (Although if you only heard "fancy dress" out of that answer and you come to the wedding as Napoleon or Spiderman, we're actually okay with that, too.)  We are strongly encouraging women to wear hats and we'll make a donation to charity if you do (inspired by MacMillan Cancer Center's Hat Week).

ALSO please especially note:  all you women who bought an expensive, probably-white dress for hundreds or thousands of dollars to wear once (you know which dress we mean)--if it still fits, please wear it!!  Trust us, you won't outshine Diane--she will be a glowing bride!

What is Diane's job?
Diane is an air traffic controller in the St. Louis, Missouri, area at the St. Louis Downtown Airport, which is just across the Mississippi River in Illinois.

What is Steve's job?
Steve is a computer aided drafter, a CAD technician for a civil engineering firm.  Fingers crossed he'll be able to get a similar job in America.  He will be able to start looking for a job once he has his permanent resident alien status (the green card) and is issued a social security number with it.

Are you both pilots?
Yes, Steve is a private pilot with British night and instrument ratings.  Diane is a private pilot and flight instructor.  Their mutual love of flying lead to their meeting at Steve's home airport, Biggin Hill, in the first place.

Where will you live?
Our future is together in America were our forecast is for a bright and sunny future and blue skies.  Steve will apply for permanent resident alien status but will remain a British citizen.  Steve will move to American permanently on May 19.

So what DO you want for wedding gifts?
What we really want for our wedding is the pleasure of your company to share in our happiness and celebrate the day with us.  We understand that joining our celebration will involve travel and expenses for many of our friends and family.  The definition of GIFT is something that's given to someone else out of desire, not obligation or duty, for the pleasure of the giving and you should only think about any kind of gift only if it makes you happy. We don't NEED any more STUFF.  We are desperately trying to get rid of STUFF in both our homes.  We are saving money to move Steve's STUFF to America and we don't need to move any more STUFF.  But if you feel the need to be more gift inspired, please click on the link to our gift wish list.

Will you change your name?
We're thinking that we might like to be called Linda and Brad.  But we'll just stay Diane Earhart and Steve King instead.

Is there a website with wedding information?
Yes, as a matter of fact, and if you're reading this, you have found it!
