A Word About Wedding Presents

We like gifts as much as the next person, but we really DO honestly believe that particularly the people travelling to spend the time with us is already a pretty big present.  We are inviting people that we like and want to share our celebration with, not because each invitation is a plea for presents.  Having said that, there are people that truly give a gift because the giver truly enjoys the giving and enjoys the joy of the givee receiving it and enjoys knowing that s/he has found a gift that the receiver is really really going to like, want, need, use.  If you are truly the kind of person that ENJOYS gift giving--the search for the perfect thing and the reaction of the receiver and everything in between, then we look forward to being surprised and pleased with your gift.  If you are the type that doesn't really enjoy giving a gift and doesn't like the search for the perfect present and is doing it because it's expected or it's a duty, then we really and truly don't expect one and will not be hurt if you don't lavish us with gifties.  Plus, we are both trying to clear OUT our houses, so we don't need STUFF just for the sake of having stuff.  Seriously.  In that case, your gift to us will be the act of NOT adding the stuff in our house.  And there is totally no way to politely even mention ££ and $$ but, seriously, to be honest, who doesn't like cold, hard cash??  Cash is one size-fits-all (checks are good, too) and we're actually registered at a couple places for things we could use, but we would encourage you to use it as a guide and feel free to shop at less expensive stores.  Or on eBay.  We love eBay!  We are also in the process of adding some charitable giving options to some of the registries, but we're still trying to figure out how it works.

We understand and appreciate the financial commitment many are making by traveling to be with us, and we value that gift most of all.

Near the end of this page, there is a list that we will try to keep updated as we think of new wishes and as things get marked off the wish list.  So, be sure to look through the whole document and check the end list often.

So what DO our guests and friends and family do if someone really really does want to give a gift?

We have registered with an on-line service called Honey Money, because they had a special offer.  The purpose is for couples to set up a web page to suggest ways for guests to contribute towards the couple’s honeymoon.  It's kind of cute because the couple can register for things like "a tank of gas $30" or "a dinner at a drive-thru $10" and the guests can chose that thing and contribute the cash, then Honey Money sends the couple the list and the cash.  This site charges a 9% fee for providing the service, though, so we suggest that you use the list as an ideas-list but recommend you not throw your money away by actually buying through them.  Go to http://www.honeymoney.co.uk/and search by surname of the bride or groom.  It's kind of a novel idea, so if you wanted to do something like that, you could make up your own certificate with the actual cash like for instance $20 and "admission to an amusement park" or something.  It's just a fun and different idea.

For those of you who really really really want to buy a present, we have actually registered at a couple stores.  However, you might want to use those gift lists as a guide, too, instead of actually buying from that store.  We chose those stores to register mostly because they were offering free stuff for registering.  For instance, Harrods will give us a bonus gift card for a percentage of whatever our guests spend there.  If our guests purchase over £10,000 [$19,000] worth of items from our gift list, we'll earn a 7.5% gift card.  This she told us with a perfectly straight face!  J  Although, we have to say, it's just COOL to say we're registered at Harrods!  So we'd suggest, for instance, that if you'd like to get us the 54 inch high definition television, even though it's registered at John Lewis, you should probably go to Best Buy!  J  And the $80 mattress pad at Famous Barr is really nice, but so is the $25 one at WalMart.  There are actually some things on the gift lists that we'd actually like, and we wrote the reasons on the following list to tell you why we like that item.

We're also registered at Pampered Chef.   They have nice stuff but it is pretty expensive.  Diane has told people that we can get a pizza cutter at WalMart for $3 instead of $15 at PC and she's usually answered that the Pampered Chef pizza cutter will last longer.  That's probably true, but we can still replace four broken WalMart pizza cutters for the same prize.  We're just saying.  To check out the Pampered Chef list, go to http://www.pamperedchef.com/, click on the Wedding Registry icon near the top, then "find a registry", and enter a name or date.  The minimum you need to enter to find us is a last name, but there are a lot of Kings but not so many Earharts.  Entering the date (07-07-07) will also narrow it down.  Take a look also at the link for "outlet" which has discontinued Pampered Chef merchandise deeply discounted, which is cool!

The supposed advantage of a bridal registry/gift list is that it has one big wish list in one place and avoids duplication.  So, for instance, if we just spread the word that we need a toaster (which we do NOT by the way) and several people say, "Hmmm, let's get Diane and Steve a toaster," we could end up with a dozen of them.  A bridal list is supposed to prevent that.  Well, that's a chance we're willing to take.  Plus, we like surprises.  This is why we're suggesting that you NOT stick specifically to the bridal registries/gift lists that we have signed up for.

Please feel free to shop at thrift stores/charity shops or close-out stores.  We like regifting.

We've discovered that the size of bedding means something different in the UK than in the US.   We have a QUEEN size bed, for which there is no exact equivalent in the UK.  A duvet or flat sheet for a King would be close enough to work, but a fitted sheet would not.

US Queen 60" X 80" (This is the size bed we have)
UK King 60" X 78" (so fitted sheets would be 2" too short)
UK Super King  72" X 78"
We could use a comforter or duvet and a set or two of new sheets would be nice.
We actually do need a QUEEN size mattress cover/mattress pad that is waterproof but breathable material, not just plastic
Our favourite colors are orange and red (not necessarily together).   Remember that anything electrical purchased in the UK will NOT work in the US.  Any alcohol obtained in the UK will be difficult for us to bring into the US.  Anyone entering the US is allowed one bottle per person per trip.

We'll put our lists from the various stores here so you get an idea of where our head is on things and notes on why we selected these particular items.  You will notice that the Harrods list isn't included.  Please don't shop at Harrods.  We don't really want or need a £75 gravy boat!  (Although Diane does quite desire the side-by-side refrigerator with the built-in TV.  We'd actually use this, but the freezer part has to be big enough to hold a pizza.)

John Lewis Gift List:  http://www.johnlewis.com/

Our gift list number is 205475 but I think you can also look it up using one or both of our names priority = what we really really really really want
Le Creuset Ramekins x2 volcanic #813 18201  priority YES  £9.50 (for 2)

Le Creuset heart ramekin cerise  #813 18301 priority YES £5.25 (for 1)
we really love LeCreuset in orange or red and these are ramekins that we can really use and these particular ones are heart shaped, which is a wedding-y bonus and we could use 4 or 6 or 8 separate bowls for real
Le Creuset soup pots x2 0.5l vol  #813 18215 £15.50 (for 2)
See above--we love LeCreuset in especially orange (or red).  These are soup bowls with a handle and we would use up to 6 or 8 of them (3 or 4 sets of 2)
I've been saving recipes to make in our new ramekins, so we really DO hope to get these!
City sweater tidy black/grey trim #570 20301 £14 and City shoe tidy black/grey trim #570 20302 £9

These are the sort of organizers that hang in a closet with a hangar on the top and hanging spaces for shoes or larger items.  Steve thinks they'll be actually useful.  Diane thinks they won't fit in our closets.

Acrylic Spagetti jar  # 812 00408  £8
This is the kind of storage jar that's tall and thin for spaghetti that has a clasping lid
Vegetable Brush  #812 10174  £2.50
We can actually use a brush for cleaning potatoes, etc.
Heart Egg Rings #812 10341  £2.50
These are to put in a pan to make shaped eggs (or pancakes).  The heart shape is wedding-y bonus cutesy and we'd probably actually use them.
Jar Opener #812 11224 £3
This is to help open jars, like a big nutcracker.  Diane has a cheapo one that doesn't work very well.  Pampered Chef actually has a better one (but more expensive) that would probably actually work better.
Spatter Screen  #812 20306  £5

This is to put over a pan while it's cooking to keep grease from splattering but not to cover the pot like a lid.  Can also be used to strain what's in the pan.  Diane thinks it would be useful.
Stainless steel honey spoon  #812 20608  £2.50
This is not the usual honey dipper that is usually wooden with grooves.  This is a small spoon with a sort of bent handle for resting on the honey jar so it drips back into the jar.  We've never seen one like this before and we think we could actually use more than one of them for various things.  It's a very clever idea and we'd really like a couple.  Diane wanted these so much that she sent Steve to the store to get some ahead of time in case we didn't get any, but he couldn't find any.  Maybe someone else will have better luck.

Heart Ice Cube Tray  #812 30140  £1.90

Heart shaped ice cubes.  Need we say more?  We would use a couple of these.

Funnel 5.5 cm  #812 20664  £2.50 a funnel just seems useful

EGG MINI FRYPAN CRAG50162  #812 23006  £7.50

This is just big enough to cook one egg.
Steve thinks it would be useful for one egg; Diane thinks it's too small to be useful.

Silicone multimat orange  #812 43101 £5.50
Silicone is very BIG in cooking right now and we've not used much of it.  This would be a useful hot pad/pot holder and of course orange is the right color.

Silicone spatula orange  #812 43102 £5.50 see above.  We'd actually use this

Tefal Practica NonStick Frypan 24cm  #813 12502  £14

Diane loves her 10" frying pan (and 8" & 12") and all are getting worn.  A quality Tefal with non-stick non-scratch surface would be a treat

Moka 6 cup coffee maker #813 31010 £16

We're coffee drinkers.  A 6 cup coffee maker seems to be about the right size for two of us, and one that could fresh brew a cup at a time would be nice (but not like the senseo ones that use special coffee disks).

Chrome toast rack  #813 37001  £4

This is really a British thing that you can put several slices of toast on it and serve at the table (or breakfast in bed).  It's on the list just for fun although Diane thinks the toast gets too cold using one.

Jelly Chopping Board Orange  #813 90301  £16
We could actually use this.  It's a cutting board in orange, sort of plastic.  Diane has a similar one but melted it.  (Don't ask)

MELODY OSTRICH FETH DUT60900  #822 06825  £9
This is an ostrich feather duster.  'nuff said  (We could actually probably use one.)

Cake Tin Liners 7"  #822 80507  £3.95
Cake Tin Liners 8"  #822 80508  £5.95

1LB Loaf Tin Liners  #822 80511  £2.95

These are all baking paper liners, sort of like giant cupcake papers.  Diane thinks they're very cool and if they're available in the US, she's never seen any.  We do actually want these.
STRIPE COOLING WINE WRAP  #845 12003  £9

Rapid ice champagne chiller  #845 91619  £8.50

Rapid ice wine chiller  #845 91620  £6

Vacuvin Rapid Ice beer/lager chiller  #845 91622  £3

These are all sleeves for chilling a bottle or keeping a bottle cold.  The rapid coolers work by putting them in the freezer and then putting the bottle in the sleeve with frozen gel.  They work really slick and if they're available in the US, Diane has never seen them.  We'd actually like these.  The one for beer/lager is really unusual and we'd REALLY like a couple of that one.

Cafetiere Mug Red  #845 31606 and Cafetiere Mug Graphite #845 31601  £4.95 each   priority YES

These are really cool and we'd really like them.  Making coffee using a cafetiere is more common in the UK than the US and we like it.  Diane calls it plunger coffee.  These are plunger coffee mugs (one red, one grey) so you can make a freshly brewed cup of coffee, one cup at a time.  Better than instant coffee.  Diane loves it so much she couldn't wait and bought one that she uses at work sometimes when there are no other coffee drinkers and she just wants a cup (not a whole pot).  It'll be worn out by the wedding.  We would like these.

Pioneer PDP-436SXE-T Plasma TV  #825 83912  £2495.00  Priority YES

A 42" (or bigger is okay too) plasma screen TV.  'nuff said.  But make it a hi-def tv, actually.  And get it at Best Buy, not John Lewis.  (The electricity wouldn't work and it would be hard to ship it from England.)  (Steve thinks we can't live without this; Diane thinks the 9" Magnavox in the kitchen is just fine.)

Sam/ R50 15.4" MON WXGA  #827 16245  £699.00

We can really, really use a new laptop computer!!  And a privacy screen to go with it
.

Sony DSC-N1 DIGITAL CAMERA  #829 20117  £329

We can really, really use a nice digital camera, preferably one that takes subsequent photos in rapid succession (which we're not sure if this one does or not).

Sony CD-R  #827 59123  £9.95

We can actually use blank DVD (+R or -R) and CD disks.  Blank Hi8 video tapes, too.

Introphoto CX440 Tripod  #829 60127  £19.95  Priority YES

This is a tripod for a camera in a brand and style we like.  Diane has one exactly like this and loves it (but it's broken) and Steve's tripod is far inferior.  We can actually use this.  The brand/model is Velbon S-6000 and Walmart or Target also carry them.

Revel CCM101 Wet & Dry Grinder  #855 46801  £29.95  Priority YES

We would actually like a small coffee grinder and even though it doesn't need to be this specific brand or model, we liked this one in particular because it's a wet and dry grinder, so it can also grind nuts or herbs, etc.  The electric would be wrong for it to be bought in the UK, but it's an idea for something that we would actually like.

Braun 370 Pocket Shaver  #815 22202  £11.95

We actually like Braun shavers and ours won't last forever.  This particular one is battery operated, but we have an American recharger cord, so a rechargeable one would work, too.

Dyson DC11 All Floors Cylinder Vacuum cleaner  #855 62205  £249

Steve thinks this vacuum cleaner looks whizzy.  Diane thinks the $99 orange one at K-Mart is just as good, and prettier.  Actually Diane thinks the OLD hoover she's had for 25 years works okay enough.

Ankle/Wrist Weights 2x 0.5Kg  #355 30220  £11.50

Weights in about 1 pound (1/2 kg) or 2 pounds (1 kg) would actually be useful.  We've also seen weights that double as water bottles and these actually look more useful if we knew where to get them.

Delsey Trolley Case Red 65cm  #744 03102 £85

Delsey Trolley Case Red 73cm  #744 03103  £89

These are two pretty good sized rolling suitcases that we like because they're red.  We'll need suitcases for trans-Atlantic flights that are a good quality and not too big and not too small.  Not only for that final move but also for future trips.

LONDON PUB WALKS 1852492163  #756 49524 £8.99
This is a book that looked like fun.  Walks to various interesting pubs in London with information about each.

Travel Journal  #765 50104  £12
We'd like a nice travel journal for our honeymoon.  Diane actually likes one she saw at Michael's for around $20 better.

Shanghai medicine cabinet  #876 30621  £550
This is a cabinet with drawers that will hold CDs or DVDs.  We do actually kind of like it, but you're on your own for shipping it to us.

Stowaway cd stepped unit  #876 23220  £195

This was an interesting CD shelving unit.  It has more cubes on the bottom and then several layers, each with one cube less so it also creates an interesting place to put curios.  It might be tricky to find the right place to put this in our house and Steve really liked it.  Diane liked it less after she tripped over it and banged up her shin pretty bad!  You're on your own for shipping it to us.

Target bridal registry:

We registered at Target mostly because of the free gifts they were giving away just for registering, but unexpectedly, these are items we actually want.  They call their registry Club Wedd.  And the 52 inch HD TV was $1500 (not £2500 like at John Lewis) but there was no tag to scan.  Also interesting to note that over the summer, Steve's tripod broke, and Diane's is broken, too, so that's something on our list that's moved higher on the priority list!

You might find it amusing to note that there is a category on the website for orange kitchen and it contains square and interesting orange plates--lots less expensive than Harrods!  And no £75 gravy boat.  (Please don't buy us orange plates.)  Our printers use Canon BCI-21 and BCI-24 black AND color inks and BC-23 black.  The book listed is by author Kathy Reichs--we'd actually enjoy any books by this author (but you don't need to buy them new or at Target).  The CDs and DVDs we actually really DO want.

You can access our wish list at any Target store at the Club Wedd kiosk or at http://www.target.com/.  Near the top of the website click on Club Wedd Registry and enter bride or groom's name, event state is Illinois and event date is July.

After registering at Harrods, Target is really more our style!  J

Debenhams Gift List:

We also registered our wedding gift list at Debenhams in England, mostly because we get a free gift card just for doing it, although they won't give it to us until after the wedding because there's the option of our guests adding to it by buying gift cards.  We're not opposed to gift cards, obviously, except for that by after the wedding, everything that we buy at Debenhams will have to be moved to America.  And, much to our we-have-enough-STUFF surprise, we did find some things at Debenhams that we could actually use and would actually like.  We registered in Croydon, but you can go to any Debenhams and see the gift list or you can do it on line at http://www.debenhams.co.uk/.  If you do go to the website, click on weddings, and our event number is 77872, but you just see a list of items without a description or picture of what you're buying, which is not ideal.
Tiger Lily Mermaid Beach Towel … £10
We don't know why this is listed as Tiger Lily (brand name probably--it's really a beach towel with the England flag on it.  We like this because we WILL need another beach towel for Steve and would like a nice quality one (not a thin flimsy one) and this one was nice because it also had a pocket for and included an inflatable pillow, which we especially liked.
Debenhams Cream Food Warmer …. £20
This is a tray that will keep food warm on the table.  Cream is the color, not the kind of food it warms.  We think this might be handy and useful, but not one with British electric.
Debenhams Iron Holder …. £9
This is to hold the iron on the ironing board.  This would be preferable to the iron falling off the ironing board as it might now, especially since Diane is often barefoot in the house.
Debenhams Pig Crumb Pet Pink …. £5
This little handheld tabletop vacuum crumb cleaner is cute and pig shaped.  The cleaning compulsion in Steve thinks we can't live without this and the slob in Diane thinks it would be useful.
Hot Mug Red …. £5
Debenhams Pink Hot Mug …. £5
Another item with a goofy barcoded description.  This is a Cafetiere Mug, the same as also listed on our John Lewis gift list, but John Lewis doesn't have it in pink.  These are really cool and we'd really like them.  Making coffee using a cafetiere is more common in the UK than the US and we like it.  Diane calls it plunger coffee.  These are plunger coffee mugs (one pink, one grey) so you can make a freshly brewed cup of coffee, one cup at a time.  Better than instant coffee.  Diane loves it so much she couldn't wait and bought one that she uses at work sometimes when there are no other coffee drinkers and she just wants a cup (not a whole pot).  It'll be worn out by the wedding.  We would like these.
Debenhams Pro Ironing Board …. £50
We haven't shopped for an ironing board in decades, so this was all new!  This has a built-in iron holder and also a wire shelf to hold folded clothes.  The ironing board we have is perfectly serviceable, but this is pretty nice and upscale comparatively.
Everyday Blow Torch …. £6
Even though we don't make crème brulee regularly, this handheld kitchen torch seems useful.  We like it because it can be refilled with butane and not propane, which would be easier.

Kitchen Complete Bag Clips …. £4
Kitchen Complete is a brand name.  Clips are always useful in the kitchen.  We usually use clothespins.
Kitchen Complete Bottle Brush …. £1.50
Steve was more interested in this and suggested some use more appropriate in the bedroom than the kitchen??????  hmmm…
Kitchen Complete Citrus Tap …. £4
This kitchen gadget sort of screws into a citrus fruit and releases the juice.  That's what the description says.  Sounds great if it works, but we think it probably is one of those things that work better in theory than in reality, but who knows?
Kitchen Complete Gravy Separator …. £5
This gadget pours sauces and such from the bottom and supposedly gets the gravy without the fat that rises to the top.  Diane thinks she bought one before but isn't sure.  Another item that sounds great if it works as advertised, but who knows?
Kitchen Complete Microwavable Ice Cream Scoop …. £3
A gadget that can be used in the microwave (aka the best invention ever!) that makes eating ice cream easier?  What could there be not to love with such a product??
Kitchen Complete Vegetable Cleaning Brush …. £2
Mr. Potato Man Scrubber Brown …. £3
We actually use vegetable scrubby brushes pretty frequently and these would be useful.  The Mr. Potato Man with googly eyes brushes are just plain cute.  These make us giggle.
Le Creuset Volcanic Mini Multimat Orange …. £7
Le Creuset Cerise Mini Multi Mat …. £7
In Le Creuset-speak cerise means red.  (Why can't they just say red?)  These are coaster-sized, ridged silicon mats that can be used as cup covers, coasters, hot pads or other uses that seem, well, useful.
Le Creuset Pots & Pans Cleaner …. £4
This bottle of cleaner made especially for Le Creuset porcelain and enamelware would be useful if we actually owned any Le Creuset (but maybe after the wedding we will!)
Le Creuset small bean pot orange …. £16
Le Creuset Volcanic Poterie Francais 2X Ramakins orange …. £10
We really love Le Creuset in orange or red, although most baking and cooking pots and pans are REALLY heavy (too heavy for us to use).  These are not so heavy and are in a size that we could use.  See note above in John Lewis about these--I'm saving recipes to use with our new ramekins.
Le Vrai Gourmet Set of 2 Cappucino Cups with Stainless Steel Saucers …. £4.50
These cup and saucer sets are a nice weight for holding and the detent for the cup in the saucer is off-center which leaves space for cookies on the saucer.  Steve particularly liked these.
Living Kitchen by Nigella Lawson Large Cream Storage Tin …. £12
Cream refers to the color, not the item being stored.  We liked this because the design is a cute retro sort of graphic on a cream background that we found attractive.  It's a tall tin, like for spaghetti.  It would be useful for keeping the mice out of the spaghetti but it's unnecessarily expensive for this particular tin.
Meyer Prestige Bakemaster 2 Chip Tray Grey …. £9
Meyer Prestige Bakemaster is the brand name--we don't HAVE to have this brand.  This baking sheet has holes so that french fries bake crispy.  We'd use this.
Meyer Prestige Bakemaster 2 4 Cup Yorkshire Tin Grey …. £6
Meyer Prestige Bakemaster is the brand name--we don't HAVE to have this brand.  This baking sheet is for making Yorkshire puddings.  This is not something we can get in America and would like to have, and extra sheets so we can make a whole batch at once.
Set of Four Egghead Cups and Spoons.  White …. £7
These egg cups are cute like an animated egg character that made us giggle.  Egg cups are a very British thing and not something you'd normally find in America.  Soft boiled eggs make Diane gag, but Steve would actually use these.  Maybe Diane could eat a Cadburys Crème Egg out of them?
Debenhams Moutard Champagne & Chocolates …. £12.50
None Mini Champ & Ice Bucket ….£15
None Moutard & Chocolates …. £7.50
Debenhams Pink Heart Box Pink …. £3.50
Debenhams Pink Oval Box Pink …. £3.50
All the above are fancy chocolates.  nuff said….
Typhoon Funky Frother -- multi colored …. £3
This is an individual battery operated whisker stirrer frother for mixing powdered drinks or eggs or that sort of thing.  It seems like it would be useful.  We liked the orange one.
Debenhams Battery Op Tire Brush.  One Size …. £15
Exactly as the description, this will scrub the tires and wheels of the cars that Steve will actually enjoy washing in our own driveway.
Debenhams Race Car Screen Cleaner.  One Size …. £6
This is a soft toy-looking item that's meant to clean a computer screen.  The only one they had in stock was the race car, but we'd like the England logoed one or anything would be equally useful.
Debenhams Rugby Book & DVD Gift pack.  One Size …. $10
Book and DVD set about England's Rugby team.  Steve would like this and Diane is happy if Steve is happy.

England (football Team) England glass.  One size …. £3
Beer glasses with the England St. George's cross on them.
England (football Team) England Lap Tray.  One size …. £10
This tray is flat on one side with the England St. George's cross and a sort of bean bag on the bottom so you can have a table surface on your lap.  Go England!

England (football Team) Inflatable Beer Bin.  One Size …. £13
This inflates to the size of a waste bin to hold beer and ice with the England team St. George's cross logo on it.  We would really really like to use this at the wedding reception.  The only thing maybe better that we'd maybe like more would be one with a St. Louis Cardinals logo on it!

England Team England Horn …. £4
This red & white item is an air horn for using at red & white sports team (like the St. Louis Cardinals!) games.  Yeah baby!!
Umbro Um England 3 Lion Pl Sldr navy Size 9/eu43 …. £10
These are navy blue beach sandals with the England 3-Lion logo.  Steve doesn't like flip flops with the thingie between your toes, but would wear this kind that has just a band over the foot.  Diane would wear flip flops.
Debenhams Little Britain Yeah But Novelty Sock Black One Size …. £4
These socks have a sexy cartoon person saying, "I'm a Love Machine" and a pompom over his private parts.  These would be a funny hen/stag gift and they made us laugh.
Duffer Stg Black Base Narrow Orange Strip Ls Shirt Black Large …. £60
We liked this long sleeve black shirt with colorful stripes and put it on the list just because we can and because we had to have a longish list to show we're serious!  It's outrageously expensive for a shirt, though.
The Royal Doulton items we registered for in order to get a free gift.  And because Diane had fun saying we should register for "Royal Doulton with handpainted periwinkles".  [It's a quote from a British sitcom.]
Royal Doulton Bunny kins Air Controller 87552  …. £25
This knick knack is something that we soooooo do not NEED but if we wanted to put cool knick knacks in our existing china cabinet, this would be the sort of addition that would be appropriate that we wouldn't be able to find in most stores.  This is from the Bunnykins WWII collection, which depicts rabbits in WWII sort of occupations.  This is an air traffic controller and you don't see many collectibles as air traffic controllers.  You might alternatively like to keep this in the back of your mind as Diane nears retirement, too!
Royal Doulton Guinness Glass money box 88177  …. £9.99
This bank is shaped like a glass of Guinness and says Beer Money on it.  It made us laugh and is the sort of thing we'd probably use.
Royal Doulton Sm Red wine pair  79819 …. £40
We don't really want these but we had to register Royal Doulton for freebies.  Don't buy these.
Royal Doulton Square Decanter 66264 …. £35
We had to register for Royal Doulton for freebies.  Steve already has decanters so we don't really want this.
Royal Doulton Vase 45594 …. £32.50
We had to register for Royal Doulton for freebies.  We would like a vase that is big enough for large flower bouquets or tall flowers and one that is not wider at the top than at the bottom, but we do NOT want a fancy (or heavy) crystal one.  We could use one glass or ceramic one of any other type.  We could use one from the Dollar store or a thrift store/charity shop.
Debenhams Corn Basket Silver …. £10
We DO like to grill and barbeque and for all the gadgets we've seen, we've never noticed a basket holder thingie made for corn on the cob.  We would use these.
Debenhams Large Wax Filled Bucket Orange …. £4
Debenhams set of 30 tea lights orange …. £3.20
Debenhams small Chinese Lantern Orange …. £8
Debenhams Wax Filled Watering Can Pink …. £2.40
These are all garden candles with citronella to anti-bug the patio.  We liked these because they're also (supposedly) citrus scented.  We liked the watering can because when the candle is gone there is still a watering can left behind, but we wanted orange, not pink, not that it totally matters.  We do like sitting outside on the patio when it's not ungodly hot outside.
Debenhams England Chiller Mug & Chiller ….£6
These mugs are the type that are plastic and have a liquid inside two layers that you put in the freezer to make a cold mug.  These particular ones have the St. George's cross of England logo on them.  We would use these.
Debenhams Luggage Strap Red …. £8
The Lockstrap Travel Aid …. £4.49
We have a use for a couple more luggage straps but they can come from anywhere and they can be any kind although we'd like anything red or orange the best.

Tripp St
Georges Cross Lrg Upright 73cm00040080 …. £49
Tripp St
Georges Cross Med Upright 63cm00030080 …. £44
These are two suitcases (on clearance!) in a useful size that are red & white with the St. George's Cross of England and they are just plain cool!!

Debenhams also had a kiosk of various gift cards for gift experiences or adventure packages, such as a day cooking with a famous chef or a flight in a vintage airplane or drive a race car or dozens of other things.  We thought this was a cool idea, although all of these particular items are for events that you have to do in England, which would not be practical after Steve is living in the US.  But we like the idea of it.

Macy's:

We had great fun registering for items when we were in the middle of St. Louis Cardinals World Series fever, and we would very much like some of the Cardinals items.  We decided to register at Macy's to get some free stuff.  Surprisingly, there are a couple things that we'd actually like.  You can view our wish list on line at http://www.macys.com/and then click on wedding registry, then enter either of our names in the FIND box.   There are over a dozen Stephen Kings, so it would be faster to use Diane's name!  J

When you look at our registry, you will see there are several things on the list that are discontinued or unavailable.  This is because we registered at Famous Barr first and then Macy's took over FB and discontinued much of their stock.  Godiva chocolates are always a good choice in any sort of assortment, even though the spring assortments are appearing on the discontinued list.

More importantly, you will note on the website that we are set up for charitable donations for gifts, too.  This goes through weddingchannel.com, not specifically Macy's, but the Macy's list shows the donation to charity.  We have chosen the Greater St. Louis Air & Space Museum as our charity of choice and also MS causes as additional charities.

We would have listed more things but the scanner took FOREVER to update every time we added an item to it.  Diane has no patience for this kind of thing as you can see her groaning and collapsing every time she had to wait for it!  So, here is what we have listed on our bridal registry and why:

Tools of the Trade (brand) Egg Slicer
This is a heavy duty egg slicer that we think we would actually use.  It's $15 which might actually last longer than the cheapy ones we usually get that break after a couple uses.
CUISINART PRO FOOD PRCSS DLC8S PROCESSOR WHITE

We don't actually have a food processor and it seems like a lot of recipes that seem interesting call for one.  It doesn't have to be this exact model and the most important feature of any food processor is how easy will it be to clean.  It would be a cool gift.  This one is currently on sale, which makes it desirable.

HOMEDICS FOOT MASSAGER FM-CR
This is cleverly named because it is a food massager.  They had one to try and all we can say is OH BABY!!!

TOOLS OF THE TRADE RANGEWARE 16QT STOCK
TOOLS OF THE TRADE BELGIQUE COPPER 16QT STOCK
These are two 16 quart stock pots.  We don't necessarily want these fancy ones, but we do desire a 16 or 20 quart stock pot.  (Walmart has a 20 qt Tamale cooker for around $20.) ANOLON ADVANCED OPEN SQUARE 11"GRIDDLESteve thinks this is particularly cool because it has detents for pancakes (or eggs) and you can cook bacon and eggs and French toast on one griddle.  Diane thinks it's kind of unwieldy to use.  There's actually one that's similar but is unavailable for purchase from Macys that has the pancake detents in a heart shape.  If we could find that elsewhere, that would be great because, hearts, love, wedding, you know.
CIRCULON STEEL W/STR LID 5.5Q CASS
We don't remember why we put this on our wish list.  You can disregard it!
NORDIC WARE PLAT ELEGANT HEART 10C BUNDT
Bundt pan, heart-shaped--what's not to love?!
CHARTER CLUB ABSORPTION COTTON QUEEN PAD WHITE
We DO need a queen size mattress pad and we DO want one that's waterproof (but not plastic) and this is a particularly nice one, but not necessarily the best value one.
NORDIC WARE CARMEL APPLE CAKE MIX
Just sounds yummy!
JOHN PILS BUSCH STADIUM SKN # 038 953 56
DEFAULT VENDOR BG PILS ORNAMENT NOSI NO COLOR
John Pils is a well-known artist that draws St. Louis landmarks.  We have a Pils print of the old Busch Stadium and we'd really like one of the new Busch Stadium.  Doesn't necessarily have to come from Macy's.  Same with the Pils Xmas ornament.
OXO GOOD GRIPS SM SPATULA RASBERRY
This is a spatula that's very narrow, like for scraping out jars.  Raspberry is really not my color, but they didn't have this in orange (or red).  A smallish one from anywhere would be great.
TILIA/JARDEN CONSUMER SOLUTIONS BAGS 48EA QT RTL
TILIA/JARDEN CONSUMER SOLUTIONS FOOD SAVR 11"ROLL 2-PACK
These are the bags that go with a Food Saver vacuum sealer machine, which is now I think Tilia brand.  Target also carries them and there are lots on ebay.  All sizes are useful, and we actually DO use our food sealer machine.  (In fact, these are also on our Target registry list.)
TOASTMASTER CHOPSTER MINI 1122 WHITE
A mini chopper seems useful but then again it might be a pain in the rear to clean.  We'd probably like it.
KITCHENAID SILICONE HEART CAKE PAN RED
NORDIC WARE PLATINUM SERIES MINI HEART PAN
NORDIC WARE NONSTICK ROSE BUNDLETTE
Heart pans are just wedding-y!  We LOVE cake, so we'd probably use these.  There was a large rose bundt pan on one of our lists but we've bought one already.  The small cupcake-size might be yummy, too.
TABLETOPS UNLIMITED ALUMINUM PRESSURE 5Q COOKER
We don't have a pressure cooker.  We could use a pressure cooker.  It doesn't have to be this one.
TOMMY HILFIGER-HOME CHINO CLASSICS F/Q COMFTR ORANGE
TOMMY HILFIGER-HOME GEO F/Q DUVSET DAFFODIL Y
BEAUTYREST SATEEN TWIN PACK S/Q PILLOW
Comforters, sheets, pillows--we like them because they're orange-ish or red-ish.  Queen size.  We could also use a couple new quality pillows.  It doesn't have to be these, though.

BURNES OF BOSTON BASEBALL 4X6 FRAME LEATHER
Picture frame shaped like a baseball.  We're Cardinals.  We were at the World Series, Baby!!  Yes, we're Redbirds!!

NEW BS COIN
This is a special issue collectors coin for the new Busch Stadium, and it's in fact what we are scanning in the photo on this page.  We'd actually like these and they may or may not be available other places than Macys.

BUSCH STDM PHOTO AL
This is actually discontinued probably.  It's a small photo album with a Cardinals and Busch Stadium logo.  We could put our World Series photos in it.  Did I mention we were there to see the Cardinals win the 2006 World Series?!!  Yeah, baby!!

GODIVA CHOCOLATIER MILK W/CRML BAR US04

ANY and ALL Godiva candy bars would be gratefully consumed!!

These things we either already have since we registered, or they were just wildly added in order to have enough for the list for freebies!  Scratch these things off the list all together:
ISI NORTH AMERICA INC ORKA SILICONE HEART TRIVET RED
OXO PUMPKIN TURNER
CANON USA PWRSHOT CAMERA SD400
GPX INC BLACK&WHITE TV524 5"TV

* Cardinals tickets in the Bank of America room (inside tickets)

* Circulon Sweetheart 11" square griddle--we registered for a similar griddle at Macys but we both think the one with heart shapes for pancakes is even better, if you can find one.  It is part of the Circulon 2 collection SKU #80096 MSP $30 and available on line at Macys, Amazon, and others.  http://www.circulon.com/nic_grdl.html

* Marrakech Wasp Catchers--we have a significant wasp problem and this set of 3 sounds too good to be true.  These were available at www.RedEnvelope.com but apparently no longer.  Maybe you're creative enough to find these somewhere else.  Or maybe a couple Hot Shot®No Pest Strips would help!

* contour pillows (the curvy kind that supports your neck and head better)

LeCreuset Hearts:

Diane has long loved LeCreuset cookware, partly because it comes in orange.  Now most of the ironware is too heavy to be practical, but they make several smaller pieces, especially the ramekins that we'd like to have, and they also make silicon cookware.  There is a line of products in heart shapes, which is very wedding-y and we would like to have any of them.  You can see the product line if you go to http://www.lecreuset.com/and search for "heart".  The website will also give you a list of suppliers.  The heart products don't come in orange, but that's okay!  J

Cuisinart Hearts:

As noted above, Diane has long loved LeCreuset cookware, partly because it comes in orange.  Registering at Macy's, one of the "gifts" was a set of ramekins if enough cuisinart was purchased.  Two covered ramekins are listed as a $45 value.  Mmmm, sounds like a Macys rip off!  If you go to http://www.cuisinart.com/and search for "heart" you will find several products just as nice (or nicer!) than LeCreuset and more reasonably priced, from 2 ramekins at $15, 2 covered ramekins (even better) at $20 up to a heart-shaped casserole dish ($50).   Very wedding-y and we would very much like to have any of them.
