Diane Earhart - Belleville - diagnosed with MS in 1995
"MS may have closed some doors for me,
but it opened others."
Diane Earhart is an air traffic controller and
flight instructor living with MS. Diane has been flying since she was a
teenager, becoming a licensed pilot in 1974, and a flight instructor in
1986. Since 1982, she has been an air traffic controller with
the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) at the St. Louis Downtown
Airport.
As someone who has never let MS stand in her way, Diane provides
support and encouragement to others by leading the Metro East MS
Support Group MS support group since 1996. In 1999, Diane was
selected to receive the Individual Achievement Award by the National MS
Society Gateway Area Chapter in recognition of her spirit of
determination and dedication to the service of others in the face of
challenges brought on by multiple sclerosis.
"With the help of the National MS Society, I was able to blaze a trail
for all pilots and air traffic controllers who have MS, and now can
continue my career in aviation."
