Diane Earhart - Belleville - diagnosed with MS in 1995

"MS may have closed some doors for me,
but it opened others."

Diane Earhart is an air traffic controller and flight instructor living with MS. Diane has been flying since she was a teenager, becoming a licensed pilot in 1974, and a flight instructor in 1986.   Since 1982, she has been an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) at the St. Louis Downtown Airport.

As someone who has never let MS stand in her way, Diane provides support and encouragement to others by leading the Metro East MS Support Group MS support group since 1996.   In 1999, Diane was selected to receive the Individual Achievement Award by the National MS Society Gateway Area Chapter in recognition of her spirit of determination and dedication to the service of others in the face of challenges brought on by multiple sclerosis.

"With the help of the National MS Society, I was able to blaze a trail for all pilots and air traffic controllers who have MS, and now can continue my career in aviation."
